e-CAP provides processing for Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT). Most states now issue Food Stamps, Women’s / Infants / Children (WIC), and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) benefits on a card with a magnetic strip. The EBT card works exactly like a debit card. Qualified merchants are those who currently accept welfare benefits. These merchants will have an identification number issued by the state where they conduct business. Obtaining this number is imperative to setting up a merchant to process EBT transactions. Rules vary by state, but e-CAP offers an important competitive advantage by being able to set up non-traditional food stamp merchants to issue cash benefits only. |
