Our staff of collection professionals interacts with your customers in a successful manner, maintaining customer goodwill while providing effective recovery of your assets. Our representatives maintain the highest level of professional integrity at all times. Checks that are received and are ineligible for electronic processing, and checks that have exhausted the available electronic attempts, are forwarded to our secondary collections process for those clients who have selected Secondary Collection when completing the e-CAP Merchant Agreement. Checks that had been returned to you prior to enrolling with e-CAP are also handled by our secondary collections. Simply complete an Existing NSF Merchant Receipt and forward it along with the checks to e-CAP. Depending on the reason for return and other variables, the checks may be handled in different ways. The following is an example of our common secondary collection scenario. Upon receipt of the check, it is immediately entered into our system and a report is generated and forwarded to you via e-mail or fax. Our system then generates a collection letter referencing their returned check, which is sent via U.S. mail. Up to three different letters may be used in an attempt to recover the returned check. In the event the address is no longer current, skip tracing may be employed in an attempt to locate their current address. If these attempts do not induce payment from the check writer, it is referred to our legal team for further action that may include litigation and/or other means available through legal process. Laws vary from state to state regarding the collection of returned checks and require e-CAP's expert knowledge of state and local statutes in order to be compliant as well as effective.
